Matt Mitro – WDNR Coldwater Fisheries Research Scientist
Matt will present “Wisconsin’s Inland Trout Populations: A 2018 Update on Trends and Research” a brief overview of recently completed and ongoing trout research projects including (1) The use of archival tags to measure thermal habitat use by brown trout during summer; (2) An update on the distribution, prevalence, and intensity of gill lice infecting brook trout in Wisconsin streams; (3) Temporal trends in trout abundance and recruitment; and (4) Brook trout and brown trout age and growth. I will also address what’s next for trout research in Wisconsin and take time to answer questions on past, current, and future trout research projects and trout management issues.
